Charlotte Mortenson -- Hebron, Ky.

Hebron, Ky. She was formerly from Dodge Center. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 24 at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, 25 South St.SW in Dodge Center, with visitation two hours before the service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center.One of six children, she was born to Charles and Stella Mae (Gay) Carter in Des Moines, Iowa, on Aug. 5, 1924. She graduated from high school in Norcator, Kan., in 1942, and was a graduate of Holy Rosary Hospital School of Nursing in Miles City, Mont., in 1946. Thereafter she moved to Owatonna, where she practiced nursing for 32 years. She married a pharmacist, Arthur J. Mortenson, in 1952. They moved in 1971 to Dodge Center, where they owned the drug store. Art died in 1997. Charlotte continued to reside in Dodge Center until 2010, when she moved to Dillsboro, Ind., to be near her son and his family. She spent the last year of her life living with her son in Hebron, Ky.She is survived by one son, Terry Mortenson (wife, Margie), of Hebron, Ky.; and one daughter, Kari Nelson (husband, Bruce), of Englewood, Colo.; plus 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; also an AFS "adopted" daughter, Candayce (husband, Pat) Detloff, of Oregon City, Ore., and their two daughters and one granddaughter. Also surviving are her sister, Ragena Bone; her brother, Robert Carter (wife, Marilyn); four nephews; and two nieces, all living in Kansas.She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother and two sisters.Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Dodge Center is in charge of arrangements.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be designated in memory of Charlotte Mortenson for the ministry account of Kari and Bruce Nelson (staff account No. 0357130) at CRU (Campus Crusade for Christ), 100 Lake Hart Drive, Orlando, FL 32832, or designated for the memory of Charlotte Mortenson for project code No. 007000 (Terry Mortenson) at Answers in Genesis, P.O.
